A new revelation has proved that a West Ham star was the key reason Crystal Palace’s Marc Guehi saw a dream deadline day move to Liverpool collapse.
There has been claim and counter-claim about the controversial collapse of Liverpool’s move to sign Marc Guehi from Crystal Palace and who was to blame.
The Hammers, Crystal Palace and Liverpool were involved in a deadline day transfer triangle which had a huge twist.
West Ham, the Reds and the Eagles were all looking to sign a centre-back before the window slammed shut.
But only Graham Potter’s Hammers managed to get one over the line.
Revelation proves West Ham did wreck Guehi’s Liverpool move
Liverpool’s pursuit of Crystal Palace captain Guehi is nothing new.
The protracted deal has been in the offing for some time.
Guehi is out of contract at Selhurst Park at the end of the season as things stand and will be available on a free transfer.

That means Guehi will be able to reach a pre-contract agreement with foreign clubs in January.

It was even given the ‘here we go’ by transfer reporter Fabrizio Romano – who had another torrid transfer window when it comes to deals in any way linked to West Ham.
But Guehi’s dream move to Liverpool fell through amid much controversy and rumours as to the cause.
But West Ham are to blame for the collapse of Liverpool’s deadline day move for the Crystal Palace and England star.
A new revelation proves West Ham really did wreck a dream Liverpool move for Guehi.
They say nice guys finish last – and Guehi is hands down one of the nicest men in football.
Guehi also showed what a consummate professional he is with his behaviour throughout the long-running saga.
Journalist claimed Igor’s Palace move hit medical snag
While other players, such as Alexander Isak and Yoan Wissa, effectively went on strike and got the moves they wanted, Guehi has missed out despite doing everything by the book.
And it all came down to West Ham signing Igor Julio in unusual circumstances and claims about a failed medical.
Igor looked set for a shock move from Brighton to bitter rivals Palace.
Oliver Glasner wanted the Brazilian in order to sanction Guehi’s departure to Liverpool.
There were even claims Glasner could walk out if the Eagles let Guehi go without signing Igor as a replacement.
Guardian journalist Ed Aarons claimed Crystal Palace decided not to sign Igor on loan due to an issue with his medical.

Aarons stated Palace switched attentions to alternative targets as a result.
But over in east London, it was being claimed West Ham had hijacked the Igor move.
Now the truth has come out and it seems the Hammers are indeed to blame for Liverpool not signing Guehi.
According to Sky Sports, Igor’s move to Palace did not collapse because of a dodgy medical.
Igor simply chose ‘massive’ West Ham over Palace
It was simply that he chose to join West Ham over Crystal Palace – despite the fact that he had completed a perfectly fine medical in south London before heading east.
A deal sheet was even submitted to the Premier League to take the Guehi negotiations beyond Monday’s 7pm deadline as West Ham did the same to sign Igor.
But when the 27-year-old former Fiorentina centre-back chose West Ham over Palace, the Eagles decided not to sell.
Sky Sports News claims that, following direct conversations with Guehi and head coach Glasner, Palace’s bosses decided they needed to cancel the deal and tell England man to south London.
While Guehi must now wait to see if Liverpool still want him in January or next summer, Igor is delighted he chose West Ham over Crystal Palace.
“I am really happy to be here at West Ham United,” Igor told West Ham’s website.
“It is a big club, a historic club, with fantastic support and a special identity. I saw this in Prague during the Europa Conference League final two years ago, and I feel very proud to now be representing the colours.
“The project here is very exciting – there are many good players at the club and I know that there is a very positive environment in the dressing room that it will be great to be a part of.
“I am ready for the challenge and looking forward to giving everything I can to help the team and the club.”
