The latest Man Utd transfer news as a trio could still leave the club.

The European transfer window might have closed on Monday night, but Manchester United could still sell three players beyond the deadline.

It was a busy deadline day at Old Trafford, as United made Senne Lammens their fifth summer signing, while Rasmus Hojlund, Jadon Sancho and Antony all left the club. There were also several youth exits as Harry Amass and Ethan Ennis left the club, while Zach Baumann was sold.

It didn't all go according to plan though. Tyrell Malacia was in talks to join La Liga side Elche on an initial loan deal, but the move collapsed after all parties were unable to agree a future transfer fee. It leaves the Dutchman surplus to requirements under Ruben Amorim after he did not feature in any of their pre-season schedule, though there could be a lifeline for him to secure an exit.

United can't buy any more players this summer, unless they were to move for a free agent, though they can still sell players to any leagues where their respective window is still open.

The Dutch and Brazilian transfer windows both close today (Tuesday 2 September), while the Belgian, Polish and Swiss transfer windows are all open until Tuesday 9 September and the Greek transfer window is open until Friday 12 September. The main transfer lifelines would be the lucrative Saudi Arabian and Turkish leagues though. The Saudi Pro League transfer window closes on Wednesday 10 September, while in Turkey it is Thursday 11 September.

It means United still have a week to sanction any further player sales this summer, which is particularly useful regarding Malacia after previous interest from Saudi Arabian clubs earlier in the window. It could also provide them with a solution to their uncertain goalkeeper scenario.

United did not plan to sign a goalkeeper this summer, but changed their plans when long-term target Lammens became available for what they believed to be a good price. The 23-year-old will provide fierce competition for the starting role, though it feels unsustainable for him, Andre Onana and Altay Bayindir to remain at the club, especially when Tom Heaton is a reliable reserve. If any appropriate offer arrives for either Onana or Bayindir over the next week, United will have to give it serious consideration.

The other potential exit is youngster Sam Mather. The 20-year-old did not secure a deadline day exit but remains open to a permanent or temporary departure to an overseas club. Mather is keeping his options open and just wants to gain regular playing time after he had a spell with Tranmere Rovers earlier in the year.

United's summer business isn't done yet.
