Anthony Gordon becomes the second Newcastle United player to publicly react to Alexander Isak joining Liverpool.
It was announced on Monday evening that Isak has joined Liverpool, bringing an end to a summer-long saga that cast a dark cloud over Tyneside.
Newcastle’s statement on Isak was very blunt. They did not wish him the best, after banking £125million on a player who had three years left to run on his contract yet downed tools this summer.
Following the move, Sven Botman has wished Isak luck. There is no remorse from the Dutch defender, who is very close friends with Isak.
Now Anthony Gordon has sent a message to the Sweden international.

Anthony Gordon wanted to join Liverpool 12 months ago
This was the second summer in a row that Newcastle United and Liverpool were in talks over a major transfer.
However, there ended up being no deal done in 2024.
Amid Newcastle’s PSR chaos, Gordon was offered to Liverpool. A £75million transfer was discussed, with Joe Gomez set to join Newcastle as part of the deal.
Gordon was keen to make the move, having grown up on Merseyside in a Liverpool-supporting family. It would have been a homecoming for him.
His head was turned, but the move collapsed.
In what was a very challenging summer, Gordon did not appear to sulk. He was certainly impacted by the speculation over his future, enduring a slow start to the 2024/25 season.
But the England international did not down tools. He showed his commitment to Newcastle United, signing a new long-term contract to keep him at St James’ Park.
Gordon remains one of Eddie Howe’s most important players, and the Newcastle United manager will be leaning on him for moments of inspiration in the absence of Isak.
