What Roy Keane finally admitted about Man Utd talent who was sold under Ruben Amorim shows his true transfer verdict

Manchester United legend Roy Keane dropped an eye-opening stance on one player who was offloaded from Old Trafford this summer under manager Ruben Amorim.

The Red Devils have had a busy summer transfer window, including the arrival of several new signings and Manchester United also offloaded talent from Old Trafford.

The transfer window slammed shut on 1st September for clubs in Europe, with United completing their fifth summer acquisition on deadline day on Monday.

Senne Lammens became the last United signing of the 2025 summer window after the Red Devils landed him for an initial £18.1m transfer fee from Royal Antwerp.

The 23-year-old Belgian shot-stopper has arrived at Old Trafford in the same window as Matheus Cunha, Diego Leon, Benjamin Sesko and Bryan Mbeumo.

Several United first-team players were also axed under Ruben Amorim this summer, including Marcus Rashford, Antony, Jadon Sancho and Alejandro Garnacho.

Jamie Carragher’s reaction to Roy Keane over Alejandro Garnacho after Chelsea signed the former Man Utd talent

Speaking on Sky Sports, Roy Keane and Jamie Carragher sat down together and rated the big-money transfers for Premier League clubs in the summer window.

Jamie Carragher wasted no time admitting that he is not an admirer of Alejandro Garnacho and did not rate the former Manchester United star’s transfer to Chelsea.

“I’m not a fan of Garnacho,” he told Keane, before adding: “Miss.”

Carragher admitted that he did not like seeing Garnacho on his phone when the Argentina star was spotted at Stamford Bridge for Chelsea’s 2-0 win over Fulham.

When discussing Garnacho with Keane, he said: “You know what I didn’t like? Did you see the game yesterday [on Saturday]?

“Where they go to people in the stands and they’re on the phones and the game’s going on? I can’t stand that. And it’s not him, by the way. There’s lots of…”

United legend Keane then interjected and added: “So, a miss just for that? Just for his phone?”

Responding to his fellow Sky Sports pundit, Carragher added: “Yeah, for being on his phone when the game is going on at his new club Chelsea.”

Roy Keane now explains his early transfer verdict on Alejandro Garnacho after the Man Utd star left for Chelsea

Garnacho left United and signed for Chelsea on the weekend, with the Blues agreeing to pay a £40m transfer fee for the 21-year-old Spain-born winger.

The Chelsea summer signing inked a deal until 2032 and Garnacho was a key target for manager Enzo Maresca to bring to Stamford Bridge before the window closed.

Following Carragher’s verdict on the Garnacho transfer to Chelsea, Keane stepped up and offered his two cents on the United youth academy product’s move to the Blues.

The 54-year-old no-nonsense Irishman disagreed with Carragher and said the transfer was ‘too early to tell,’ with Keane deeply divided on Garnacho at Chelsea.

“I’m undecided on that one. I’m not convinced,” Keane simply said.

Garnacho had been frozen out of the United first team this summer after the Chelsea new boy fell out with Red Devils manager Ruben Amorim at Old Trafford.
