Ruben Amorim reacted badly when one of his Manchester United players asked for a new contract on his return to pre-season training this summer.
Having struggled for much of last season, the majority of United's squad are believed to have received a 25 per cent wage cut after failing to qualify for the Champions League.
It has become standard procedure at Old Trafford, although it has been known to have a negative impact on certain members of the squad.
Back in 2022, Cristiano Ronaldo was reportedly left 'upset' by the salary cut, with his wage going from £480,000-a-week to £360,000 after United could only qualify for the Europa League.
And this summer, it appears goalkeeper Andre Onana was unhappy with the situation. In fact, a report from The Athletic suggests Onana wanted a new contract on his return to pre-season.

The report suggests Onana has been of that view since receiving the standard 25 per cent cut for non-qualification to Europe's elite competition. However, it is a stance that 'did not go down well' with head coach Ruben Amorim.
Onana, who joined United from Inter Milan in the summer of 2023 for a reported £47.2 million, penned a five-year deal at Old Trafford.
But since his much-anticipated arrival, the Cameroon international has failed to live up to expectations. In fact, he recently lost his place in Amorim's starting XI to last season's second-choice goalkeeper Altay Bayindir.
Onana has been strongly linked with a move this summer, but a lack of suitors has been apparent.

Ligue 1 side Monaco were believed to be the only club to register an interest, according to The Athletic, but when they found out he would cost a minimum of £30 million, they declined to proceed.

Last week, reports emerged linking West Ham with a late move for Onana, but Graham Potter’s side apparently turned down the opportunity as they believed he is no better than their current crop of keepers.
Mads Hermansen arrived at the London Stadium for a reported £18 million from Leicester this summer, but he has struggled in his opening league games. Alphonse Areola, meanwhile, has featured mostly in cup competitions.
