‘Dream contract’ offer from Aston Villa enough to convince free agent

Victor Lindelöf has remained in the Premier League, joining Aston Villa on a free transfer on deadline day.

The Sweden international has reportedly signed a contract until 2027, with an option for another year.

Swedish newspaper Expressen have an article with the details of the defender’s contract with Aston Villa.

The centre-back spent eight years at Manchester United before they released him at the end of last season. He was a free agent throughout the window and had to wait until the last day to find a new club.

According to the outlet, Unai Emery’s side have given the 31-year-old a ‘dream contract’.

If the defender plays all three years of his Aston Villa contract, the report states he will earn SEK 200m [£15.8m]. It’s unclear whether that figure is before or after tax.

Expressen claim the dream contract proposed by Aston Villa will see him earn more than he was getting at Manchester United.

Aston Villa have picked up a point from three league games and will be looking for their first win of this season against Everton on September 13th.
