‘Weakness’: Dan Burn says Newcastle identified £60m Liverpool player as Arne Slot’s weak link

Liverpool have had an interesting start to the Premier League season.

Indeed, the Reds are top of the table after winning each of their first three games.

However, each win has been via late goals and at times, Arne Slot’s side have been unconvincing.

After signing Alexander Isak on deadline day, Liverpool will be looking to kick on.

Speaking on Premier League Productions, Dan Burn has been discussing Liverpool’s start to the season, and he was asked about Newcastle’s recent clash with the Reds.

Burn was asked if Newcastle tried to target Dominik Szoboszlai during that game as he played out of position at right-back, and the Newcastle ace gave an interesting answer.

Dominik Szoboszlai identified as Liverpool weak link

Burn discussed Szoboszlai playing at right-back against Newcastle recently.

The defender says that the £60m man was identified as a weak point in the Liverpool team for this game, but he conceded that the makeshift full-back actually did really well.

“Was that something you guys discussed on Monday, down your left side, the first game he played at right-back?” Burn was asked.

“100%. It’s not his usual position, it’s something you have to look at as a weakness to attack, but he’s done really well in that position,” Burn said.

“It’s always seemed to be that for Liverpool. Whether it’s Trent drifting into midfield, he had that long ball he could play, that has really benefitted them.”

Burn says Newcastle identified Szoboszlai as a weak point in the game at St James’ Park, but the Hungarian had a solid showing on the day.

Indeed, despite playing out of position, Szoboszlai showed his class against Newcastle, as the stats show.

Szoboszlai would follow up that performance with a Man of the Match showing against Arsenal over the weekend, and amid something of a right-back crisis, Liverpool seem to have found another creative solution.

Arne Slot’s side have started the season with three wins in a row, and Szoboszlai has had a huge part to play in that already.
