It comes after Adam Wharton picked up an adductor injury during Crystal Palace's win over Aston Villa on Sunday.

Wharton hobbled of in the second half of the 3-0 victory at Villa Park and manager Oliver Glasner claimed the star have to withdraw from the England camp.

That has opened the door to Loftus-Cheek who earned his last cap in November 2018 against the United States.

The ex-Chelsea star has started the season in good form with the Rossoneri and netted in Friday night's 2-0 win at Lecce.

The 29-year-old, who has earned 10 caps for England, will be reunited with boss Thomas Tuchel whom he played under during their time together at Stamford Bridge.

Loftus-Cheek left Chelsea to join AC Milan shortly after Tuchel’s dismissal in 2022.

Injuries aside, the midfielder has been a regular for the Serie A giants since his arrival having clocked up 71 appearances.

He has started both of Milan's opening games this season under new boss Massimiliano Allegri.

And he could be set to add to his 10 caps when England host minnows Andorra at Villa Park on Saturday.

He will also be in contention when the Three Lions head to Serbia three days later in what is arguably their toughest challenge in World Cup qualifying.

Tuchel made headlines last week when he left out Real Madrid star Trent Alexander-Arnold in favour of Tottenham's Djed Spence.

Loftus Cheek could join Nottingham Forest's Elliot Anderson in England's midfield after he was handed a first call up to the senior squad.

The pair could benefit from the exclusions of Cole Palmer, Jude Bellingham and Bukayo Saka through injury.

Loftus-Cheek struggled to cement his place in Chelsea's midfield leading to loan spells with Crystal Palace and Fulham.

He swapped west London for Milan in 2023 and has since found himself at home in Italy.

"I didn't play as much as I wanted to at Chelsea and I was on the field in positions where I couldn't express myself. The last season was very difficult," he told Italian outlet La Gazzetta dello Sport.

"I have a free mind and I play as a midfielder as I like," he said reflecting on his role at the San Siro. "It's like going back to childhood when we played football without worries.

"That's the mental state I want to step onto the field with. On the field, you want to have fun, enjoy the game, and also take pleasure in working hard.
