Man Utd 'decide on appealing' decision not to banish Grimsby from Carabao Cup

Manchester United have reportedly decided not to appeal the decision to allow Grimsby to retain their place in this season’s Carabao Cup. The Red Devils were beaten by the League Two outfit in the second round last week, but Grimsby have since been sanctioned for fielding an ineligible player.

United were second best throughout their encounter with Grimsby at Blundell Park and were 2-0 down at half time following goals from Charles Vernam and Tyrell Warren. The visitors eventually forced a penalty shootout after Bryan Mbeumo and Harry Maguire struck to level the tie. But Grimsby came out on top in the shootout as Mbeumo saw the decisive spot kick cannon back off the crossbar.
