Midfielder sounds frosty as quizzed on Tottenham and Manchester United interest in him

Sporting Club de Portugal midfielder Morten Hjulmand has provided a frosty response to questions about interest from Manchester United and Tottenham Hotspur this summer.

[Ekstra Bladet](https://ekstrabladet.dk/) cover comments from the Sporting midfielder today in which he appeared uninterested in talking about Manchester United or Tottenham links.

He had been linked with a move around Europe this summer once again as he continues to impress at the Portuguese club.

Reports were largely focused on Juventus, Manchester United and Tottenham this summer but all three clubs ended up spending their money elsewhere rather than on the Sporting midfielder.

That’s despite numerous reports of interest about the Danish star, who had already added to his suitors last summer with his performances at the European Championship last summer.

No move ended up happening, though, even in a summer in which Tottenham and Manchester United were among the big spenders again and the Premier League broke records.

The press were keen to ask the 26-year-old about the rumours as he linked up with the national team at their camp in Helsingør on Monday. He, though, was not entertaining any such rumours and shot them down with a more than frosty reply.

“Now you say rumours. And I don’t relate to rumours,” he said.

“I have related to the fact that I should start at Sporting and get fit again after the holidays. I have come, and we have had some really good matches, where I think we have performed at a good level, even though we ended up losing at the weekend.

“I don’t really want to answer whether I have had anything specific to say.”
