Leeds United knew that the squad would see a lot of changes before the new season began. The Whites spent months planning for the recruitment during the summer.
Leeds started the transfer window with some urgency, bringing in a lot of players in June and July. But as much as they were adding new faces, the number of exits was very low. Daniel Farke had already made it clear to a host of first team players that they were not in his plans for the season. The others were left in West Yorkshire as the team began training camp in Germany.

Joe Gelhardt re-joined Hull City after his impressive loan spell in the second half of last season. But he is not the only Leeds player to make the switch from West Yorkshire. Darko Gyabi joined the Tigers on a permanent deal, reuniting with his former teammate in Gelhardt.

The full details of the move are an interesting read. Hull City are under a transfer embargo, meaning they can only sign players on loan or free transfers. Leeds agreed to let Gyabi leave the club for free, after spending £5million on him years ago. According to Hull Daily Mail, the Tigers agreed to a 50% sell-on clause because the Whites sold their player on a free transfer.
Which means any future move for Gyabi will see Leeds pocket half of the profits.
What Tigers boss Sergej Jakirovic has said about Darko Gyabi
When asked about Gyabi’s move from Leed, Hull City boss said the midfielder was a ”good player”:
“Darko is a very good player and I like what I’ve seen from him.”
The 21-year old is now expected to have more playing time at a decent level after failing to break into the first team at Leeds United.
