Fulham saw a late transfer window attempt to sign Feyenoord midfielder In-Beom Hwang rejected by the Dutch club.
That’s according to Voetbal International, via Soccer News, who say Fulham were immediately shown the door by Feyenoord when they made their move for the 28-year-old.
The newspaper reports that Fulham tried to lure the midfielder to Craven Cottage at the end of the summer window and were willing to offer a ‘substantial fee’ to do so.
The South Korean, though, was blocked from departing. “Feyenoord is loud and clear: In-Beom Hwang will not be allowed to leave,” Voetbal International are quoted as saying.
They considered the midfielder as too important for Robin van Persie’s plans and one of the most important link players in his system. He had three goals and two assists in 21 games in the Eredivisie last season.
They therefore sent a ‘loud and clear’ message to Fulham that the midfielder was not for sale, particularly late in the transfer window, and sent Marco Silva’s side packing.
They eventually spent their money strengthening elsewhere, but it’ll be interesting to see if In-Beom Hwang is a name they look at again in future, perhaps in the January transfer window.
