‘Not an exaggeration’: Darren Bent makes bold Jack Grealish claim after Everton start

Jack Grealish has hit the ground running at Everton in some style, and Darren Bent can’t help himself after an honest claim.

The best business of the summer transfer window for Everton is easily looking like Grealish’s loan move from Man City.

After falling out of Pep Guardiola’s plans, the winger needed a resurgence, and he’s got that fantastically under David Moyes.

Everyone knew the quality he had, but he just needed to rediscover what he was missing, and Grealish said he has more ‘freedom’ at Everton.

The Toffees boss will be delighted he has the 29-year-old on their books at the moment, and Bent believes something that might be a rogue shout.

Darren Bent says Jack Grealish at Everton is ‘one of the best’ in the Premier League right now

After just three games in the Premier League with the Blues, the winger has four assists and is comfortably leading in that category.

It’s already looking like a match made in heaven, as Grealish has praised the ‘unbelievable’ Everton fans.

The move was perfect for him, and Bent has stated that he thinks the 29-year-old is one of the best players in England right now.

“So I was at Wolves vs Everton. 3-2 Everton. It was a great game, but Jack Grealish… oh my goodness gracious me,” Bent said to talkSPORT on deadline day.

“Playing out wide on the left, he was absolutely phenomenal. He was so good that Dewsbury-Hall and Iliman Ndiaye went under the radar. They were both brilliant, but every time [Grealish] got on the ball, he made things happen. He got a couple of assists as well.

He added: “It’s funny because when you’re watching David Moyes on the sidelines, certain people in the Everton team take the ball in quite risky areas, and they might get fouled or give it away, and he loses his head. Whenever Jack dropped into those areas, [Moyes] was as calm as you like because he knew he was either going to draw a foul or get himself out of it.

“He was just absolutely outstanding. If the England squad had been announced in two weeks’ time, he’d have been in it. He’d have to be in it. He is one of the best players in the league right now. That’s not an exaggeration.”

It is hard to argue Bent’s claim, with the winger having the joint-most goal contributions in the league at the moment, and his manager might agree with the talkSPORT pundit.

Everton boss David Moyes called Jack Grealish the best player in the league during 2021

After signing for £100 million in 2021, Grealish was one of the best in the English top flight, but he needs to remain consistent.

He has the chance to make his mark at Everton and also secure a place in the 2026 World Cup squad.

Bent’s admission isn’t the most outrageous judging by Moyes thinking Grealish was the ‘league’s best’ as well, but during the year he secured his move to City.
