Crystal Palace were rejected twice in move for defender – Reason now emerging

In early August, Gazzetta dello Sport reported that Crystal Palace met disappointment in a move for Inter Milan’s Yann Bisseck.

The newspaper claimed the defender and the Italian giants had both maintained a firm stance on the approach. This has led to them keeping Bisseck and as a result, Benjamin Pavard has been loaned out to Marseille.

Today’s Gazzetta has more on why Inter decided to keep the German and part ways with the Frenchman. They note that Crystal Palace attempts for the 24-year-old were rejected twice.

The Eagles were said to have offered around €42m but this wasn’t enough for Cristian Chivu’s side. Apart from valuation, Gazzetta reveal that Inter took Bisseck’s age and versatility into account.

The Germany international can play across the backline and at wing-back and is much younger than Pavard, who faced multiple injury problems last season.

More than that, the newspaper make it clear that Pavard wanted to return to France and Bisseck had shown no intention to leave despite Crystal Palace’s attempts.

Oliver Glasner’s side have now kept hold of Marc Guehi but if they had lost the Englishman, missing out on Bisseck would have hurt more. One to keep an eye on for future windows.
