According to [Maria Tikas](https://www.sport.es/es/noticias/barca/futbol-femenino/szymczak-apunta-salir-cedida-121159671), Barcelona forward Emilia Szymczak is set to leave on loan this summer. At just 19 years old, she is considered one of the club’s most promising attacking prospects. Several teams have shown interest in the Polish striker, but Liverpool are currently in pole position to secure the deal. AS Roma and VfL Wolfsburg have also been linked.
The move is not financially motivated. Sporting director Marc Vivés explained that both the club and the player believe the priority is for Szymczak to take the next step in her career and gain valuable first-team experience at the highest level.
Marc Vivés has also confirmed the imminent exit of Lucía Corrales. According to Ángel Pérez, London City Lionesses are ready to trigger her release clause worth €500,000. Initially, both the player and the club intended for her to stay, with Corrales rejecting multiple offers from major clubs to pursue her dream at Barça.
However, contract restructuring led to disagreements. Vivés explained:
“We offered Lucía a contract to stay. But because of fair play, we asked to restructure it — not changing the total amount, just how it was distributed. That caused disagreements.”
This would not be the first Barcelona player to join the [WSL](https://womenfootball.blog/womens-super-league-table-standings/) newcomers. Earlier this summer, Jana Fernández made the same move after her €200,000 clause was paid. Barcelona have until September 19 to find a replacement, but the club appear more inclined to promote academy talent to the senior squad rather than make a signing.
