Everton tried and failed with a late move to sign another player from Chelsea in the summer transfer window.
David Moyes’ Everton side enjoyed a very positive window by making several impressive signings. In particular, Kiernan Dewsbury-Hall, 26, has settled very quickly at the Merseyside club since his permanent move from Chelsea at the start of August.
The central midfielder has played every minute for the Toffees in their opening three Premier League matches. We’re not surprised that Dewsbury-Hall quickly won Everton supporters over because he’s a talented footballer who needed more minutes.
It now turns out that Everton actually attempted to sign someone else from Stamford Bridge late in the summer window.

Everton were unsuccessful with Ben Chilwell offer
According to The Athletic, Everton submitted a loan offer for Ben Chilwell inside the final 48 hours of the transfer window.
However, the English defender ended up completing a permanent move to French outfit Strasbourg on Monday’s deadline day.
Chilwell, 28, could have been a decent option for Everton’s squad, which could be primed for a successful season. However, it’s probably a relief for the individual that he’s found a new permanent home.

The left-back was frozen out of the first-team picture at Chelsea last term, which led to a loan spell at Crystal Palace in the second half of the campaign.
If he can keep himself fit and available, Strasbourg have wrapped up an excellent signing for them. In particular, Chilwell’s experience should be helpful when the Ligue 1 team compete in the Conference League.
Blues head coach Enzo Maresca was complimentary of Chilwell’s behaviour despite overlooking him, so the Champions League winner should depart with plenty of love and support.

Chelsea’s super strength at left-back
Even though Chilwell is no longer at Chelsea, they look incredibly strong in the full-back areas.
At left-back, Marc Cucurella now has exciting youngster Jorrel Hato as his understudy. Similarly, Malo Gusto and Reece James compete for the right-back spot.
As the busy season progresses after the international break, we expected to see each of the four players above all get plenty of first-team minutes due to lots of rotation.
Chelsea fended off Tottenham to sign Hato from Ajax this summer, and we’re expecting big things from him this season.
