Fer Lopez impressed Wolves fans after coming off the bench for Wolves against Everton last weekend – and today there’s been a positive development for the player.
Fer Lopez was Wolves’ first arrival of the summer, and the club have high hopes that he can deliver.
At £19 million (via BBC Sport), Wolves slightly overpaid for the 21-year-old to prise him away from Celta Vigo.
Ultimately, Lopez had not been in Celta’s first-team for very long, and some had feared another Fabio Silva situation at the time.
But Lopez had a good pre-season, catching the eye several times, and has actually done OK in the Premier League so far.
Against Everton at the weekend he was positive, as he came into midfield demanding the ball. And Lopez’s performance even drew praise from Jack Grealish.
And today, there’s more positive news regarding the Spaniard.

Wolves like to think they have landed a star of the future in Lopez.

But Steve Bull recently said patience will be required over Lopez, and the Molineux legend is absolutely right.
However, he has been heading in the right direction.
And today, Lopez has actually been spotted training with the Spain national team, which is certainly exciting for the youngster.

Tenías Que Haber Tirado shared an image from a session earlier today pointing the Wolves man out, stating that it was at the express request of Luis de la Fuente that he trained with the squad.
Lopez also reposted a picture from Spain’s official account to his own Story which featured him and a few Spain players from the session, including Dani Carvajal and Pau Curbasi.
Lopez could make his debut for the U21s in their Euro U21 qualifier against Cyprus on Friday. They then face Kosovo on Tuesday.
Lopez has already been tipped to make Spain debut
While Wolves did pay slightly over the odds for Lopez, you can definitely already see the potential with him.
And excitingly, he already seems to be on de la Fuente’s radar.
Lopez will play for the Spain U21s over the international break for the first time, but perhaps it may not be long until he steps up and actually plays games with the seniors.
When he was making his move to Wolves, Lopez’s former mentor, Paul Grainger, actually tipped him to play for Spain’s 2026 World Cup squad.
Having worked with Lopez when he was in England as a teenager, he said: “I have seen some of the best players in the world play football. I have never seen a footballer like him. He was literally incredible.
“From the first day, I knew he was going to be a superstar.
“I have already been to a couple of bookies to see if I could bet on him playing for Spain at the 2026 World Cup. I have no doubt that he will become an international footballer. There is nothing missing.”
