Opinion: 'Quality' Molineux star may actually be quite pleased with what Wolves did on deadline …

Many fans are not happy with how Wolves’ summer transfer window unfolded – but one player may be pleased to see what went down on deadline.

It has been a frustrating summer for Wolves, who were turned down by several players in the window.

As well as the annoyance for fans, it’s been claimed there’s even been internal frustration over recruitment at Molineux.

Vitor Pereira is now up against it to deliver.

Wolves have already started with three straight defeats in the Premier League, and many feel this could be the season Wolves go down.

But on deadline day, Wolves did at least keep Jorgen Strand Larsen which was a positive.

Wolves also signed Tolu Arokodare, and these two moves by Wolves are likely to go down well with Hugo Bueno.

Hugo Bueno is hoping to build on the season he had at Feyenoord in 2024/25.

Bueno made 30 appearances for the Dutch giants, and has returned to Wolves to fight for minutes in 2025/26.

Wolves did sign David Moller Wolfe to increase the competition.

But Bueno is determined to be a regular starter at Wolves, and keeping Strand Larsen and signing Arokodare are two things that may help him thrive.

That’s because one of Bueno’s best traits is his crossing.

The Spaniard started against West Ham United in the Carabao Cup and was one of Wanderers’ best performers on the night, and was positive in everything he did.

As per Sofascore, he put 10 balls into the box against the Hammers, which was more than double any other player to have featured in the game (for either side).

After that game, Andy Thompson hailed Bueno as ‘quality’, calling for him to start against Everton.

Against Everton, Bueno put in three crosses, and was generally quite involved for Wolves with 70 touches of the ball – only four of his teammates managed more.

Strand Larsen stands at 6ft 4in tall, and new signing Arokodare is even taller at 6ft 6in. The 6ft 7in Sasa Kalajdzic is expected to leave Wolves on loan, with other transfer windows still open.

Bueno is surely bound to pick up a few assists with those two prowling the area.

Arokodare scored five headed goals last term indicating his aerial prowess, and the £24 million man will hopefully make the most of Bueno’s deliveries.

Hugo Bueno must find early consistency for Wolves amid Moller Wolfe competition

Bueno was given the nod against Everton, meaning he’s started the last two now.

It remains to be seen if he’ll start against Newcastle after the international break, but he must take his chance if given the nod.

Moller Wolfe got an assist against Everton to strengthen his case to start.

But as the more creative and attack-minded of the two, Bueno will hope the aerial ability of Strand Larsen and Arokodare will help him to thrive.
