Alan Shearer and Gary Lineker feel very strongly about ‘really good player’ at Man Utd, his presence can’t go unnoticed

Gary Lineker and Alan Shearer have singled out one key first-team Manchester United player who has deeply impressed them under Ruben Amorim at Old Trafford.

Manchester United are ninth in the Premier League table and the Red Devils have won once, picked up one draw and lost one match in their opening three league ties.

Ruben Amorim and his men went into the September international break with their first win across all competitions, with United defeating Burnley at Old Trafford.

Bruno Fernandes stepped up and converted a second-half injury-time penalty on Saturday afternoon to seal United’s 3-2 Premier League win over Burnley.

The Red Devils’ Premier League result on the weekend eased the pressure on Amorim, who had overseen United’s humiliating loss to Grimsby Town last week.

United came from 2-0 down against the League Two side in their second-half performance, but Grimsby came out on top with a 12-11 win on penalties.

Bryan Mbeumo came off the bench in the defeat at Blundell Park and netted for United in the second half, as well as scoring a spot-kick in the penalty shootout.

The 26-year-old French-born attacker missed his second penalty effort to hand Grimsby the win, but Bryan Mbeumo impressed both Alan Shearer and Gary Lineker.

“I thought Mbeumo did well to come back [in the Burnley match],” Lineker said on The Rest Is Football podcast.

“He had a couple of good efforts. He scored his goal. And obviously, he missed the penalty as well that was costly, but he showed b—-. You know he got in there and that’s important.”

Speaking on Mbeumo, Shearer added: “Mbeumo is a really good player. Yeah, really good. I think he’s a really, really good player, I do.”

Bryan Mbeumo is showing exactly why Man Utd splashed out big to sign him from Brentford for Ruben Amorim

Bryan Mbeumo has oozed quality in the final third of Ruben Amorim’s tactical system at United, with the Cameroon international impressing in the right-sided No 10 role.

The Cameroon and United winger opened his goalscoring account at the Red Devils against Grimsby before finding the back of the net against Burnley on the weekend.

United pursued Mbeumo over the summer and the Red Devils dropped a third bid to secure his services from Brentford in July after paying an initial transfer fee of £65m.

The Red Devils’ transfer package for the ex-Bees ace included £6m in add-ons, but Mbeumo’s immediate impact for United shows he was well worth the investment.
