Harvey Elliott enters agreement with Aston Villa

On 1 September 2025, Aston Villa revealed that they have agreed a deal for Harvey Elliott.

The Englishman has joined the Villans on loan for the 2025/26 campaign with an obligation to buy him next summer. This financial commitment will cost £35 million, including sell-on and buy-back clauses.

Elliott reportedly rejected interest from **Fulham**and Aston Villa. The BBC has also stated that RB Leipzig sought out his signature, but Villa wrapped up a deal on the final day of the transfer window.

The 22-year-old ought to see this move as an opportunity to nail down a role his talent deserves.

Elliott accepts reality of Liverpool rebuild

Elliott earned his breakthrough in the men's game at Fulham. He made his debut in September 2018, and by the end of the 2018/19 season, he got his first Premier League minutes at the age of 15, becoming the youngest person to play in the competition. Big clubs would come calling for his signature soon enough.

**Liverpool**locked down his services, and Elliott was enticed by the chance to play for the team he supported as a child. But Jurgen Klopp could not guarantee him many minutes, and he spent the 2020/21 season on loan in the Championship, excelling with seven strikes for Blackburn Rovers.

Upon his return to the Reds, the teenager took the next step to gaining seniority in the squad, playing a full ninety against **Burnley**in August 2021. But disaster struck: a dislocated ankle against Leeds United left him sidelined for four months. It was one of many setbacks he has suffered in playing time.

The 22-year-old has not played even half of the Premier League minutes in any of the last three campaigns for the club. Mohamed Salah is a fixed point in the lineup from the right wing, while Elliott has fought with the likes of Jordan Henderson and Dominik Szoboszlai for more midfield minutes.

Arne Slot has seen his value, but Elliott's fortunes reflect the way that things can go for burgeoning talents in top teams. Szoboszlai is still in the plans, and the arrival of Florian Wirtz has killed the idea of him being a first-choice ten. For the good of his career, the Englishman has decided to move on.
