West Ham star set to be slapped with six-figure fine after FA misconduct charges

West Ham United midfielder Lucas Paqueta is set to be fined around £150,000 after FA misconduct charges, according to the Times.

The West Ham star was cleared of spot-fixing in July and has remained at the London Stadium club after getting linked with a summer exit.

However, an independent commission found the Brazilian guilty of failing to co-operate with investigators.

Paqueta avoided a potential lifetime ban after he was accused of deliberately getting yellow-carded in matches.

The West Ham ace was booked against Leicester City in November 2022, Aston Villa in March 2023, Leeds United in May 2023 and Bournemouth in August 2024.

It was believed those offences were deliberate so as to help his friends and family members win bets.

While he was cleared of those charges, he has been found guilty of two lesser charges – failing to answer questions and provide information to the FA’s investigation.

He has breached FA Rule F3 and his fine is set to be announced this week.

Paqueta was following the advice of lawyers appointed by West Ham in terms of the information and answers he provided during the FA investigation.

The FA are also likely to be responsible for the costs of the fees owed the legal representatives hired by the Hammers for the case.

It could surpass £1 million and a decision has yet to be made as to whether they will be picking up the cost.
