Scottish giants Celtic eye shock move for Leeds United promotion hero

Leeds United could not have asked for a better start to the Premier League season. Heading into the international break, the Whites are in a very good position.

Daniel Farke’s side have four points from a possible nine, with great results against Everton and Newcastle. The only concern for the fans was the five-goal defeat away to Arsenal. One huge positive from the start to the campaign is how the team is getting their results at home. Farke asked the fans to make Elland Road a fortress, and Leeds are unbeaten there so far.

The defence has worked out well, but the attack still needs a lot of work. Leeds have failed to score from open play since the season began. Lukas Nmecha scored their only goal this season from the penalty spot. The club’s strikers have had questionable performances in front of goal.

Speaking of strikers, Leeds have made a massive shake up in that department this summer. Last season, Joel Piroe was the main option, with Patrick Bamford and Mateo Joseph as backups. But since Bamford was barely fit, Piroe played every game in the Championship last season.

The Whites have since loaned out Joseph, and brought in Lukas Nmecha and Dominic Calvert-Lewin. But in doing that they had to make the bold decision to let Patrick Bamford go. Both parties agreed to a mutual termination of his contract last week. The striker played a huge part when Leeds were promoted in 2020, scoring 17 goals as the club finished in the top half – the fans will always remember him for this.

According to Stephen McGowan of Herald Sport, Celtic have made an enquiry 0ver a potential move for the 31-year old. The Scottish Premier League side are in search of a striker after selling Adam Idah to Swansea. It is believed that Celtic are in a rush to add a striker to the squad, and they have reached out to Bamford over a potential move.

The 31-year old can join the reigning Scottish champions at any time as he is a free agent.
