Leeds United’s only confirmed business on deadline day was to sanction an exit for midfielder Darko Gyabi, leaving on a permanent deal to Hull City in the Championship.
Deadline day promised to be a hectic day once again at Elland Road, but there was pressure on Adam Underwood and co to secure the transfers that Daniel Farke noted as vital to his side’s survival chances this summer.
In the background, there were outgoings to attend to after Farke made it clear certain players wouldn’t be part of the plans going forward.

Darko Gyabi completes permanent transfer away from Leeds United to Hull City
Darko Gyabi fell into that category this summer, requiring an exit away from Elland Road after 18 months of loans at Plymouth Argyle in the Championship.
His £5million transfer from Manchester City hadn’t gone to plan, and entered this summer in the final year of his deal, expected to leave.
It took until the final hours of deadline day for the midfielder to finally secure his permanent exit from Leeds, though, moving across Yorkshire to Hull City in the Championship on a permanent deal:
Hull City, Leeds United agree hefty sell-on clause in intriguing permanent transfer
The fact it’s a permanent transfer raised eyebrows given that Hull are still under an EFL fee restriction limiting them to free transfers and loans.
Despite bypassing that EFL issue, Gyabi pens a three-year deal at the MKM Stadium with Hull Live reporting of a hefty sell-on clause agreed by United:
“It’s understood that as part of the deal, Leeds have negotiated a sell on clause that could be as high as 50 per cent of any future sale for a player that cost them £5m when he joined from Manchester City in 2022 as part of the deal which took Kalvin Phillips to the Etihad Stadium.”
Darko Gyabi has great opportunity after leaving Leeds United for Hull City
Gyabi at 21 has all the tools to succeed in the Championship in the coming years, and the three-year deal at Hull is a great opportunity.
He’s going to be developing at a club that have brought on a handful of youngsters very well recently, including Joe Gelhardt and Charlie Hughes.
After scrapping it out at Plymouth for a year and a half, it would be beneficial for Gyabi’s development if he was playing better football in the coming months, able to demonstrate why he was a core presence in the Man City youth setup before moving to Elland Road.
If all of this culminates in Gyabi having a good spell at Hull, Leeds could well be in for a massive windfall with that 50% sell-on.
