Yoane Wissa is living out his dream with a £55 million move from **Brentford**to Newcastle United.
Not only will he play in the **Champions League**for the first time in his career, but he will also have the chance to emulate two France-based strikers from his continent of origin that he had first admired.
‘The black and white is something I want’
As an African player, Wissa would pick out two strikers who had brought his attention to Newcastle.
“Demba Ba**, Papiss Cisse: the duo they create especially in France. It was crazy because they come from Africa. So me I am Congolese also. So I'm really proud.”
He had also chatted with a compatriot from **Congo**who contributed to his desire to join the Toon.
“I spoke as well with Chancel Mbemba who has been here. So he was quite happy, he wanted the deal to make it happen because he really enjoy being here. The black and white is something I really want from since day one. So that's why I'm quite very happy, really emotional family looking forward to it.”
Experiencing St.James' Park**** as a player has only added to the intrigue of a transfer to the North-East.
*“It made a huge difference because when I first joined the Premier League with **Brentford*when you first come to see all of the fans you understand everything you understand the vibe is something different.”
His interest in the club has grown over the last few years, feeding the urge to observe the Amazon documentary on the rise of the team under Eddie Howe. Now, he feels happy to complete the series.
“I even watch the series on Amazon about Newcastle. I didn't watch all because for me otherwise I would get emotional if I'm not going there. But now I'm going to finish it and I'm happy with the manager Jason my agent my family, all the board to make this happen. That's why I’ll give 100% every moment.”
The 28-year-old follows on from Alan Shearer and Cisse as a man who wears the number nine for the first team. He feels honoured to have that responsibility and wishes to reward the faith of the board.
“I watched Alan Shearer get all the goals but at that moment I was quite young. Ba and Cisse I was not young. Even then I couldn't be imagine looking forward to this. You never know what's going to happen.
“It is a privilege to be the nine after a lot of historic nines. I’m really privileged, nice shirt as well.”
