Fermin has revealed that he had no intention of leaving Barcelona despite being flattered by the interest from Enzo Maresca's side.
“In the end, my priority has always been to be at Barca," Fermin told Mundo Deportivo. “I arrived at 12 years old, it was my dream to be here, to reach the first team.
“It's always flattering that there is interest from other clubs, but the truth is I always had the idea of staying at Barca and succeeding here."
Fermin also set the record straight about rumours suggesting that he has fallen out with his Barcelona and Spain teammate Gavi.

“Gavi has been my friend since I was 12," Fermin said. "I’ve known him since my time at Betis, but since I joined La Masia, he’s been my friend, like my brother.
”We’ve shared a lot. People always speculate; this isn’t going to change, but he’s still my friend.
"We have a good relationship, as always, and I have nothing more to say about it.”
Fermin is currently with Luis de la Fuente's Spain squad preparing for Thursday's World Cup qualifier against Bulgaria in Sofia.
The Euro 2024 winners will then travel to Konya for Sunday's tricky qualifying clash against Turkey.
Once Fermin completes his international obligations, Fermin will turn his focus back to club action as he looks to force his way into Hansi Flick's side.
The 22-year-old has had to settle for two substitute appearances in Barcelona's first three La Liga matches of the 2025-26 season.
