Jacob Ramsey withdrew at half-time during Newcastle United’s goalless draw at Leeds United.
Ramsey, a £39million summer signing from Aston Villa, made his debut as a substitute in the 3-2 defeat at home to Liverpool before starting the following game away to Leeds United.
However, the 24-year-old’s full debut was cut short after he hurt his ankle in a tackle with former United midfielder Sean Longstaff. The incident occurred midway through the first half, where he carried on before being withdrawn at half-time.
Jacob Ramsey drops Newcastle United injury hint
After the game, which ended goalless, Newcastle boss Eddie Howe revealed Ramsey’s ankle had swollen up and that they didn’t want to take any risks. Although there is a two-week break now due to the international break, many had been left wondering if Ramsey would be sidelined for longer.
However, the suggestion is Ramsey will be fine to feature when Wolves visit St James’ Park on September 13. The midfielder shared photos to his Instagram story of himself in action against Leeds with the caption “see you all after the break”.
Newcastle United hoping for Joelinton boost
Sandro Tonali and Joelinton picked up injuries during the defeat to Liverpool and while Tonali was passed fit to feature at Elland Road, overcoming a shoulder issue, Joelinton missed out.
But the hope is that Joelinton will return against Wolves, after a scan revealed “relatively good” news.
Speaking ahead of the Leeds match, Howe said: “Relatively good news on both players. I think when they left the pitch, I feared they might be out long-term, because it didn't look good for either.

“But Joelinton's scan was relatively good. He will miss this weekend, but there's a chance he could be available the other side of the international break.
“And similar with Sandro, really. I think his injury isn't serious. He's battling to try and be fit for tomorrow. Whether he makes it or not, I'm not sure. But again, really positive signs, because we did fear that we were going to lose him for longer.”
Two Newcastle United players in line for debuts vs Wolves
Having started the campaign without a recognised striker due to Alexander Isak going on strike to force through his £130m British record transfer to Liverpool, Howe is set to have two available versus Wolves.
£69m club-record signing Nick Woltemade watched the Leeds draw from the Elland Road stands after Newcastle were unable to register him in time with the Premier League to feature.
And on deadline day, the Magpies completed the £55m signing of Yoane Wissa from Brentford. Both players have been recruited to compensate for the loss of Isak.
