'Family' - Leeds United midfielder sends message to Jack Harrison after Daniel Farke decision

Ilia Gruev says the Leeds United squad is right behind Jack Harrison, who is a "big part" of the dressing room "family".

Harrison’s return has been a contentious subject among the Whites fan base due to his two years away on loan at Everton while Leeds were in the Championship. The winger has been reintegrated into the squad by Daniel Farke, who says it is up Harrison to win back the support of match-goers through his on-field efforts.

Figures around the club have underlined Harrison’s work ethic and determination since his return, and the player himself has attempted to build bridges by putting a tab behind two bars for fans to have a free match pint on him prior to the opening game against Everton.

After being roundly booed by many of the Leeds faithful in Stockholm and Dublin, Harrison is slowly winning back supporters. Boos still ring out when he enters the pitch but there are now more cheers for the 28-year-old, who put in a hustling display from the bench against Newcastle United on Saturday.

Gruev says the squad is fully behind Harrison’s reintroduction into the squad. Speaking after the goalless draw with Newcastle, the Bulgarian said: “I think every player who comes in wants to dig in, the team stands behind him.

"From the first day, Jack was a member of the group, like everybody else, and so there's no doubt about anything. If he starts, if he comes from the bench, we appreciate him. He's part of this big group and of the family, so there's no doubt about anything.”
