Earthy, 20, spent last season on loan in the Championship with Bristol City. He went on to make 40 appearances for the Robins and scored three goals.

As per GiveMeSport, the Baggies were keen along with Middlesbrough and Wrexham. Bristol City and Norwich City have also been mentioned as potential suitors but the player stayed put at the London Stadium beyond the deadline.

Following the end of his spell at Ashton Gate in the last campaign, Earthy said, via BristolLive: “Thank you to everyone at Bristol City – the manager, the players, the staff and the fans – for welcoming me into your club as one of your own.

“I couldn’t tell you how much I’ve loved my time here and have learnt so much about myself as a player and a person. The way our season ended still hurts, however, it was an experience I won’t ever forget. It’s been an honour to have represented this great club and to be a part of such a talented group of people.”

West Brom eyed George Earthy at West Ham

West Brom could have seen Earthy as someone to boost their attacking department. If he had joined WBA, he would have given them more competition and depth going forward.

The youngster has been on the books at West Ham for his whole career to date. He has risen up through their academy ranks and has been a regular at various different youth levels.

Earthy has played four times for the Hammers’ first-team so far. He was given the green light to head out the exit door on a temporary basis for the first time when Bristol City came calling and got plenty of experience during his time with the Robins.

What now for West Brom and George Earthy?

West Brom will have to wait until January now if they are to make a swoop for Earthy at West Ham. WBA have made an impressive start to the new term under the guidance of Ryan Mason.

If they did reignite their interest in the player, they may have to see off competition from elsewhere. Second tier rivals Wrexham, Middlesbrough, Bristol City and Norwich City may also still be in the frame by the winter.

Mason’s men won 1-0 away at Stoke City last time out before the international break to keep their momentum going. New boy Nat Phillips, who joined from Liverpool, scored their winner against the Potters.
