**Newcastle United have managed to conduct an extra piece of transfer business on deadline day, which was confirmed on Tuesday night.**
Youngster Travis Hernes has been one of several Under-21 stars who have flirted with first-team opportunities in recent seasons as Eddie Howe has kept an eye on the development of his top young stars.
The Norwegian has been spotted with the first team several times, but he may be about to leave the club before he gets his shot to break into the first team.
Signed from Shrewsbury Town for an undisclosed fee, the 19-year-old has now moved to FC Groningen on a season-long loan, as confirmed by the Dutch side.

Travis Hernes is playing for a permanent move to Holland
--------------------------------------------------------
In the official announcement, the Eredivisie side confirmed that their deal includes an option to buy.
> “FC Groningen has signed a loan deal with midfielder Travis Hernes from Newcastle United. The 19-year-old Norwegian will finish the current season at Euroborg. The Pride of the North has included a purchase option in the loan agreement to permanently acquire the youth international after the season.”
Hernes' fate now depends on how well he plays this season and whether he can convince Groningen to stump up the cash to make his move permanent.
Newcastle's academy recruited well this summer
----------------------------------------------
Hernes' departure follows those of Garang Kuol on a permanent deal and Trevan Sanusi's loan move to FC Lorient, which all happened late in the window.
The Under 21s have had a few new faces added this summer, too, in the form of Antonio Cordero, who went out on loan to Westerlo in Belgium. The Korean wonderkid Park Seung-soo also joined, as did Vakhtang Salia, who joined on 30th August after turning 18.
Newcastle continue to search for the best up-and-coming talent to nurture at the club, but only the select few will make the leap to the first team.
