Troy Deeney has just made a massive claim about Manchester City star Erling Haaland following the arrival of Alexander Isak at Liverpool.
The future of the Swedish star dominated the summer transfer window as the 25-year-old refused to play and train with Newcastle United in order to force a move to Anfield, with the player eventually getting his wish on deadline day.
The signing of Isak was the cherry on the cake of an exceptional transfer window for the Reds, which also saw the Merseyside club beat Man City to Florian Wirtz, who is on a path to becoming one of the best midfielders in world football.
The Manchester club were also busy in the transfer market, but none of their new additions will eclipse the importance of Erling Haaland to Pep Guardiola’s team, with Deeney now making a big claim about the Norwegian superstar.

Troy Deeney thinks Alexander Isak will score more goals than Erling Haaland
Haaland has won the Premier League’s Golden Boot in two of the three seasons he has been at the Etihad Stadium, with the Norwegian giving up his crown to Mohamed Salah last season.
Finishing above the Man City striker in the top goalscorer chart is a very hard task; however, Deeney expects Isak to achieve this for the 2025/26 campaign now that he has joined Liverpool.

“Isak all but guarantees them the Premier League. That’s how far I’m going to go on it,” the pundit said on The Recharge with Troy Deeney.
“Arsenal aren’t going to score more, like Gyokeres isn’t going to score more for Arsenal than Isak is. I don’t think Haaland will either. And that’s a massive shout because Haaland is the goal machine.”
This claim is unlikely to happen, as Haaland already has a three-goal head start on Isak. While it is not guaranteed that the Swedish star will start every game at Anfield, the goals will also be shared around amongst Liverpool’s forward line, with Salah being on penalties.
The arrival of Isak at Liverpool will have Man City fans worried; however, if Haaland can replicate his 2022/23 campaign, then the Manchester club have every chance of being successful this season.

Rio Ferdinand believes Haaland is a better player than Isak, as the Norwegian striker has proven his worth across multiple seasons at Man City.
The two players are very different, as the City superstar likes to use his physical attributes to score goals, while Isak is more technical and can also drop deeper to create for his teammates.

Last season was the best of Isak’s career, and yet, the former Newcastle could not outscore Haaland during his worst campaign since moving to Man City.
With no penalties, rotation, and needing time to bed into a new team, it is very hard to see Isak outscoring Haaland this season, despite what Deeney says.
