Our League Cup third round tie against Port Vale will take place on Wednesday, September 24 after a date was confirmed by the EFL.
The game, which will be held at the Staffordshire side's Vale Park home, will also be broadcast live in the UK by Sky Sports, and kicks off at 8pm.
It will be the first time the teams have met since the 1997/98 when we drew 1-1 in an FA Cup third round replay at Vale Park, but we advanced on penalties en route to winning the trophy as part of Arsene Wenger's first double.
Those are the only two games between the teams in 98 years, as you have to go back to 1927 for the previous encounters which came in the FA Cup. We have won 12 of 22 matches against the Valiants, the majority of which came when we took on each other in the second tier either side of the turn of the 20th century.
