Paul Scholes has now told Jamie Carragher one telling thing that he has seen from Ruben Amorim during the Manchester United manager’s reign at Old Trafford.
Ruben Amorim has entered his first full season at Old Trafford as Manchester United manager after taking charge during a turbulent 2024-25 Premier League season.
However, the 40-year-old Portuguese coach, who arrived from Sporting CP last November, has already faced immense pressure at the start of the new campaign.
United lost to Arsenal at Old Trafford in their opening Premier League match of the season before the Red Devils secured a 1-1 draw against Fulham at Craven Cottage.
However, the scrutiny turned up a notch on Amorim after Grimsby Town knocked United out of the second round of the Carabao Cup in dramatic fashion last week.
Grimsby Town hosted United at Blundell Park and the League Two outfit prevented the Red Devils from mounting a successful comeback after clinching a 12-11 win on penalties.

What Paul Scholes has noticed from Ruben Amorim as Man Utd manager speaks volumes about the Portuguese coach
Ruben Amorim was able to lift some of the pressure off his shoulders ahead of the September break, following on from last Wednesday’s defeat to Grimsby Town.
United hosted Burnley at Old Trafford on Saturday and the Red Devils clinched their first Premier League win of the 2025-26 season in the dying stages of the match.
Amorim’s future at United had been shrouded in mystery following his explosive post-match interview after the Red Devils crashed out of the Carabao Cup.
Paul Scholes suggested that Amorim’s interview after the Grimsby defeat was the manager acting on something that other coaches would only think in their heads.
Speaking on The Overlap, he said: “I quite like Amorim.
“He’s very honest and can be too honest. He’s saying what every manager probably thinks at some point, but I don’t think you say that out loud.
“There are so many experienced managers in the Premier League who will be thinking that, and I’ve thought that, but they won’t say it.”

Paul Scholes spotlights the ‘worst’ remark that Ruben Amorim has made at Man Utd so far during his Old Trafford reign
An under-pressure Amorim caught the eye of United fans – and the wider world – after he took aim at his players after the second-round Carabao Cup defeat.
“With all due respect, when you play against a fourth division team, it’s not the goalkeeper, it’s everything,” he told Sky Sports last week.
“It’s the environment, it’s the way we face the competition. We know that in the moment, people will pay attention to everything, it’s massive – every detail.
“We showed that performance today. My players spoke for me, really loud.”
Speaking alongside Jamie Carragher, Scholes argued that Amorim’s message was clear as day for the hidden meaning behind his “loud” remark about his players.
“The worst comment for me was after the Grimsby game, where he said that the players spoke out loud – I thought that was a little bit damning for him,” he added.
When asked about Amorim’s one line about his players, the United legend responded: “That the players don’t want to play for him.”
The Red Devils are currently ninth in the Premier League table this season after United’s 3-2 result over Burnley at Old Trafford on the weekend.
