'Battered': Jamie Carragher takes fresh Everton swipe after what he recently saw

Everton have made a bright start to the 2025/26 campaign, with six points already on the board in the Premier League.

David Moyes has seen a lot of change over the summer both on and off the pitch on Merseyside.

It was The Friedkin Group’s first summer as the owners at Everton, and they have certainly put their stamp on the club.

The summer transfer window has finally drawn to a close, with Everton coming out as one of the busiest clubs in the market.

Jack Grealish has hit the ground running at Everton in a clear sign that the recruitment team have worked their magic this summer.

However, it is not all positive on Merseyside, with Jamie Carragher already taking a swipe at the Blues after what he spotted earlier in the term.

Everton slammed by Jamie Carragher over Brighton victory

Wolves manager Vitor Pereira hailed Everton at the weekend, following the Toffees’ victory at Molineux.

However, not everyone has been singing the praises of the Blues who currently sit in fifth spot of the Premier League table.

Speaking on The Overlap, Carragher admitted he was not convinced by Everton in their opening win at the Hill Dickinson Stadium.

“I watched you [Brighton] play against Everton, You battered Everton really, but couldn’t get across the line in the end,” Carragher said to a Brighton fan.

Roy Keane and Carragher both backed Everton’s summer deals, which they feel will have them more than safe from the drop.

But Everton will be targeting a much better finish than just lurking around the drop zone yet again.

Moyes has an eye on a European finish this season, having been encouraged by what he has seen throughout the transfer window.

Carragher knows good sides can win ugly in the Premier League

It is only three games into the new season, and Everton have already laid down a real marker for the rest of the campaign.

Carragher has already taken a swipe at Everton this season having suggested Jordan Pickford should be playing for a better club.

However, Carragher’s own side has shown that you do not have to play well to put three points on the board.

Liverpool have won all three of their games this season, but they have looked nowhere near their best in doing so.

It feels a bit rich for Carragher to suggest Everton were ‘battered’ against Brighton considering they did not concede a goal.

Granted, it may not have been a complete performance at times, but it was also only the second game of the season.

Carragher may be left eating his words later this month when the two sides face in the first Merseyside Derby of the season.
