Manor Solomon makes huge admission after missing out on Leeds United move

Leeds United had a very busy deadline day, but the end result was very disappointing. After going after a list of targets over the weekend, the club ended up finding no one to sign.

Fulham’s Harry Wilson was on the table, with a deal being agreed in principle. But the deal fell through at the last minute and the Whites ended up empty handed after the deadline. This failed deal followed the shocking series of events on Friday. After rounds of talks, Leeds had managed to convince Brighton to loan out Facundo Buonanotte. There was confidence that a deal could be reached on the Friday, with the club even booking a flight.

Manor Solomon was a name that was discussed every week after Leeds won the Championship. The forward scored the winner late in added time to secure the league title for the Whites. Amidst all the celebration, fans thought the club would make the deal permanent in the summer. However, due to multiple reasons, it never panned out.

Solomon had his own transfer issues in the middle of the transfer window as Spurs decided he was not in their plans for this season. It was very late in the window that Leeds revived their interest as they were desperate to add another attacker. But Villarreal sealed a deal for the winger on deadline day.

Speaking to Sports Walla after completing his move, Solomon said he would have loved to stay in England this season.

“Those were the craziest 24 hours I’ve had in football. I left London around six in the morning knowing that I was staying at Tottenham, and when I landed, chaos began until midnight,” Solomon said.

“In normal situations, you think more, analyze and talk to whoever you need to, but yesterday it was different and quick decisions had to be made. I kept saying that my goal was to stay in England.

“I was supposed to stay. I was already close to Crystal Palace, but if I’m going to an amazing place like Villarreal, which plays in the Spanish league, which is the second best, a strong team, I’m very happy.”
