Portsmouth have completed the signing of Arsenal forward Jessie Gale on a season-long loan deal.
Pompey announced news of the arrangement via a post on their official club website this morning.
The 19-year-old joined the Arsenal academy back in January 2024. She is yet to make a significant impact in the first team but she does find herself on the fringes of head coach Renée Slegers’ squad.
In a bid to increase her challenge for first team minutes, Gale spent time with FA Women’s National League Southern Premier Division club Watford last season. She netted seven goals for The Golden Girls in what was an impressive breakthrough campaign for the youngster. She will now be hoping to successfully make the step up to Barclays WSL2 football with Portsmouth.
After adding Gale to his squad, Portsmouth boss Jay Sadler said “We’re delighted to bring Jessie to Pompey. She’s a player with real talent, and her pace and directness fit perfectly with our playing profile.
“This move is the right step in her development, and we’re grateful to Arsenal for loaning her to us, and we’re excited to be part of her journey.
“Jessie brings great energy both on and off the pitch, and she has a real drive to grow and keep improving. Qualities that will add a lot to our squad.”
Gale could be involved when Portsmouth play host to Durham in Barclays WSL2 this weekend.
