One former Alabama offensive lineman returned to the NFL and another lost his NFL roster spot on Tuesday.
The Washington Commanders announced guard Darrian Dalcourt had been signed for their practice squad.
The Baltimore Ravens waived Dalcourt on Aug. 27 as they reduced their preseason roster to the regular-season limit of 53 players.
Dalcourt joined Baltimore from Alabama as an undrafted rookie last season. Cut at the end of the 2024 preseason, Dalcourt spent his first NFL season on the Ravens’ practice squad without appearing in a regular-season game.
In the 2020, 2021 and 2022 seasons, Dalcourt was a Crimson Tide teammate of Amari Kight, an offensive tackle released from the Seattle Seahawks’ practice squad on Tuesday.
Kight signed with the Seahawks as an undrafted rookie after two seasons at UCF. Seattle signed him for its practice squad after releasing him in the regular-season roster cut last week. But on Tuesday, the Seahawks replaced three players on their practice squad, including Kight, who was a high school standout at Thompson in Alabaster before joining Alabama.
Each NFL team can have a practice squad of 16 players. Members of the practice squad do everything the players on the active roster do except play in games. But two practice-squad members can be elevated to active status for each game, although no player can be elevated from the practice squad more than three times in a season.
