The dust has settled on the summer transfer window, and Daniel Farke's squad for the first part of a vital Premier League season is locked in - and fans in the Leeds Live comments section would've liked to see the board throw more weight behind their manager.
Over £100 million was spent preparing the squad for the step up, with Leeds spreading the spending across a wide variety of additions. Key issues will be whether Dominic Calvert-Lewin and Lukas Nmecha can hit the ground running and stay fit throughout the season, and how well figures like Anton Stach and Gabriel Gudmundsson can keep up their good starts.
There was little in the way of incoming fees over the summer, with around £10 million raised for the sale of Sam Greenwood and Rasmus Kristensen and Darko Gyabi, plus loan fees for various players who will be away from Elland Road this season like Largie Ramazani and Max Wober.
Some fans say that Premier League survival looks like a tough proposition on the face of it. Reader JADessy says: "We have signed many mediocre transfers. Stach appeared to be the best.
"The game against Sheffield Wednesday kids put shivers up my spine. Looks like we signed a lot of 'donkeys' and very little quality. We now have a good championship team - but not Premier League quality. We need a miracle to survive."
Commenter Jeffwales writes: "The morning after the night before and doesn't get any better does it? What a debacle deadline day finally turned out to be and an underwhelming end to a window that promised so much. Don't get me wrong, would still mark this window as 6/10, but we badly needed a proven striker and a quality midfield creator.
"Now the dust has settled, we can only pin our hopes in DCL and Nmecha eventually providing the goals to keep us up. Finally, whatever and whoever, there are are questions both Marathe and the recruitment team have to answer, but I dare say the PR machine at Elland Road will be going into overdrive and Farke will be left to handle the press."
WeRLeeds says: "Lets face it, it was a pretty dire window, Harry Wilson? Even if that had gone through, there is a reason why Fulham dont play him. We have needed a striker for about 5 years & not had a proper 10 since Pablo left.
"I think if we had got Soloman back & maybe just got in Hamer, we would've been in a better, positive position. As it stands I am struggling to think of 3 teams that we will finish above. If we played Everton again today we would lose, they strengthened, as did Sunderland & Burnley, all while our 49ers owners were buying players... for Rangers..."
Busth is feeling more positive: "We have had windows where we panicked and brought in players who were not ready. Remember Rutter? I'd rather have players who have Prem experience like Longstaff, Nmecha and Calwin-Lewis. We were never going to get the best, and had to compromise. The main worry is the lack of a number 10."
Macstiv writes: "Let's face it, we were always going to struggle to attract players who had options to play in Europe. Also the fact that promoted teams have gone back down for 2 seasons. The last-minute loss of Wison was same scenario as Liverpool and Guehi, where selling club pulled the plug because they left it too late to get a replacement.
"Further, hands are tied for promoted clubs having less to spend. Farke has done an amazing job so far and has achieved what only Bielsa has done for us in last 20 years. Now let's get behind him and the team and make Elland Road a fortress."
Mirbs adds: "This is the squad we have. Either put your faith in it, or moan all season. What has characterized Farke for two seasons is that the sum of the team is greater than the individual players. We must believe that it will be the case this season as well. Both Calvert-Lewin and Nmecha have the quality. Now their fitness will be tested, but both, when sharp, have goals in them. Regardless, we have no choice, so March on Together!"
