Sports Illustrated recently described Rodrygo as "The most talked about Real Madrid transfer that never happened," and this we know is true. Rodrygo was the talk of the summer, but nothing actually happened.
Heading into the 2025/26 season, Rodrygo is, and will still be, a Real Madrid player. Of course, the Saudi transfer window is still open for another few weeks, but with Real Madrid unable to sign backup, it's unlikely they'll sanction any sale now.
We can say with close to 100% certainty that Rodrygo will remain a Real Madrid player, at least until the January transfer window opens up in the New Year.
Little has been said by Rodrygo, but in all honesty, this was the case throughout the summer anyway.
Rodrygo still considers Real Madrid his home
Posting to social media, Rodrygo has since made his stance on Real Madrid crystal clear.
Rodrygo posted a well-curated video of him in a Real Madrid jersey, standing on a pillar surrounded by all of the trophies he's won here, with the caption "Home."
That says everything that Real Madrid fans needed to know; Rodrygo is more than happy to continue his adventure at Real Madrid.
And who knows? Rodrygo may even add to that trophy display, and add to his personal highlight montage, which was also included in the video.
Rodrygo has won three Liga titles and two Champions League trophies. If he stays for the entire season, there is every possibility he'll add to that, considering how strongly Los Blancos have begun this campaign.
It's very difficult to imagine any player being disgruntled at Real Madrid. It is the best club in the world, and any player expecting better than Real Madrid would be sorely disappointed to find out that better doesn't exist.
Nevertheless, there was a growing concern that Rodrygo was unhappy not to get his transfer. He never made that dissatisfaction outwardly clear, but the classic media narrative seeped its way into the Real Madrid fanbase yet again.
For whatever reason, media publications have it out for Real Madrid. We guess the club is just an easy target. While fans are always encouraged to take transfer stories with a pinch of salt, the Rodrygo shouts were impossible to ignore.
All that aside, Rodrygo has now silenced those rumors. He considers Real Madrid his home, and that should be enough to please Madridistas.
