In recent years, Albion have signed Moises Caicedo for a paltry £4 million and sold him to Chelsea for a fee worth up to £115m.
Similarly, the Sussex side recruited Marc Cucurella for around £15m, and the Blues -otherwise cheekily known as CEO Paul Barber's "best customer" - bought him for upwards of £60m.
Joao Pedro joined the Stamford Bridge outfit for a similar fee earlier this summer, and academy product Ben White headed to Arsenal for £50m in 2021.
In June, Albion forked out £29.6m to sign 18-year-old Olympiacos striker Charalampos Kostoulas, but they have still turned a hefty profit from this summer's transfer window.
Now, [new figures](https://www.bbc.co.uk/sport/football/articles/c20755y05ydo) have revealed that Bloom's team were the Premier League's fourth-smallest spenders at £69m, with only Aston Villa (£57.5m), Crystal Palace (£47m), and Fulham (£34.5m) forking out less money.
On the flip side, Liverpool spent an eye-watering £415m this summer, Chelsea were second at £285m, Arsenal were third with £255m, Newcastle United splashed out £250m on signings, and Man Utd rounded up the top five with £216m.
Albion's business acumen was also plain to see as their net spend is the second best in the Premier League at -£64m, with only Bournemouth topping that at -£87m.
Remarkably, Chelsea's net spend was just -£3m, whereas the worst offenders were Arsenal (£246m), Liverpool (£228m), Man United (148m), Tottenham (£145m), and newly promoted Sunderland (£118m).
It remains to be seen, however, how well Fabian Hurzeler's side will do with a relatively modest summer spend this season.
One thing is for certain. Albion are not in danger of breaching the league's Profit and Sustainability Rules with deals like these.
