Aaron Rodgers will return to East Rutherford, New Jersey, to face the New York Jets in what is being billed as a ‘revenge game.’
While Rodgers was cut by the new regime and outright criticized them for it in April on the Pat McAfee Show, Jets head coach Aaron Glenn is not going to talk about Rodgers or what transpired.
“I’m not going to sit here and answer questions on what I saw back then. It’s not relevant to right now,” Glenn said.
When asked about the player they are facing, Glenn focused on what Rodgers can bring to the table pre-snap, which is part of what has made Rodgers a four-time MVP in the NFL. That is what Glenn says will be the biggest challenge for the Jets.
“Man, that’s really nothing to talk about because of who he is. He challenges in all ways, as far as him as a thrower, getting guys in and out of the huddle, being able to see the defense, being able to put the guys in the right position. Listen, he’s a future Hall of Famer. We all know that. So, he’s going to cause problems no matter what,” Glenn said.
Meanwhile, Rodgers is not holding any grudge against the Jets, instead focusing on the game as just one of the 17 on the regular season schedule.
“Probably nowhere near where it might be made out,” Rodgers said to Adam Schein on Mad Dog Radio. “A lot has changed over there, coaching staff-wise, player-wise. Obviously, I have friendships over there, but it’s one game out of 17, and at 5 o’clock Eastern on that Sunday, it’s only going to be on to the next game. So that’s just the way it is.”
With two quarterbacks facing their former teams, it gives Sunday’s matchup some more juice and high octane stakes they have to meet, but it does not seem either group will outwardly acknowledge that.
