The latest Crystal Palace injury news, with updates on Adam Wharton, Ismaila Sarr and Cheick Doucoure

Crystal Palace have made a solid start to the new 2025/26 Premier League season. They are unbeaten in their first three league fixtures and are looking a well-drilled team. The Eagles drew their opening two games against Chelsea away and Nottingham Forest at home.

Oliver Glasner’s side then won 3-0 away at Aston Villa last time out. Jean-Phillipe Mateta, Marc Guehi and Ismaila Sarr got their goals at Villa Park as they ran out comfortable winners in the end. Here is a look at the latest injury news and return dates ahead of their next match against newly promoted Sunderland after the international break...

How long with Crystal Palace’s Adam Wharton be injured for?

Crystal Palace midfielder Adam Wharton is expected to be out of action for three weeks. The England international pulled up against Aston Villa with an abductor injury and was forced to go off after just 55 minutes. He subsequently went for some scans to determine the damage.

He is now poised to spend the whole of September on the sidelines which is a blow. The ex-Blackburn Rovers man will miss out in their upcoming league fixtures against Sunderland, West Ham, and Crystal Palace. He will need to be checked ahead of the Europa Conference League trip to Dynamo Kyiv in early October as well.

The Eagles landed the 21-year-old back in 2024 and he has since become one of their most highly-valued assets. Prior to his move, he caught the eye in the Championship and breaking into the first-team at Ewood Park. He has made 46 appearances for his current club to date, three of which have come in this campaign.

Ismaila Sarr and Cheick Doucoure injury updates for Crystal Palace

Crystal Palace winger Ismaila Sarr is sidelined. The forward has picked up a muscle injury to his hamstring and is set to sit out for the next three to four weeks, similarly to Wharton which is a blow. He managed to get himself on the scoresheet against Aston Villa but at a cost.

Midfielder Cheick Doucoure has been in the treatment room on a long-term basis after rupturing his ACL. The Eagles aren’t rushing him back in and are taking their time as they wait for the right time to push him back into the fold. The most likely return time for him will be late October, early November at this stage, but his situation is fairly fluid.

Defender Chadi Riad also did his ACL last term. The 22-year-old, who is a Morocco international with three caps to his name, has endured a frustrating start to life at Selhurst Park. He joined from Real Betis last year but hasn’t had much game time at all.

Elsewhere, striker Eddie Nketiah has a thigh problem and isn’t expected back until November-time. He missed the majority of pre-season and his issue is worse than first feared. Like with the other players, Crystal Palace will continue to assess him. It is also yet to be known exactly when Odsonne Edouard and Caleb Kporha as they recover from calf and back problems respectively, as the Eagles make checks on the pair.
