Jack Grealish has got off to a stunning start to his Everton career since joining on loan from Manchester City.

Everton beat Wolves 3-2 on Saturday 30 August, with Grealish bagging assists for the opener and for Kiernan Dewsbury-Hall’s winner.

The midfielder has been transformative for David Moyes’ side, and looks to be rediscovering the form that established him among the Premier League’s best at Aston Villa.

Grealish broke an Everton assist record against Wolves, becoming the first Toffee ever to provide two assists in back-to-back Premier League games.

But the midfielder is still waiting to get the praise he deserves from some, with Troy Deeney leaving him out of the Premier League team of the week.

Everton dressing room must be ‘absolutely buzzing’ says John Parrott

Erling Haaland dubbed Grealish “Jack De Bruyne” following the victory over Wolves, referring to the former Manchester City playmaker Kevin De Bruyne.

The Belgian had a massive impact at the Etihad Stadium, and Grealish’s early impression at the Hill Dickinson Stadium has been much of the same.

On his home debut, the midfielder stunned Everton fans with his ability to break down the left and deliver in devastating balls.

But against Wolves, Grealish took on increased creativity, appearing everywhere throughout the 90 minutes and constantly proving a thorn in the side of the home side.

Former snooker World champion and Everton fan John Parrott told talkSPORT on Wednesday 3 September that the Everton dressing room will be enjoying the form of their new teammate.

“All three goals at the weekend, he was involved in all three of them,” Parrott said.

“The reverse pass for Dewsbury-Hall for the second goal, header for the first one and the little dink over the defender, which most people would miss, so it tees up for Dewsbury-Hall’s goal is fantastic.

“I can imagine, I’ve never been involved in team sports, but I imagine that dressing room in the ground is absolutely buzzing with him being there.”

Jack Grealish impact sparks memories of James Rodriguez

Parrott also compared the impact of Grealish to a former Everton signing, who heralded much of the same excitement.

“The nearest thing I can link to it – he’s (Grealish) a bit like when we had James Rodriguez – he’s got a pass on him the other players don’t see,” the 1991 World snooker champion said.

Rodriguez spent just the 2020/21 season with Everton, and his quality was immediately apparent.

James Rodriguez managed just 26 appearances in all competitions for Everton, but left an impact.

The midfielder ended the season having scored six goals and provided nine assists.

His arrival saw Everton win their first four Premier League games of the 2020/21 season.

The two-time Champions League winner had six direct goal contributions after just five Premier League appearances, but suffered from injuries throughout the season and left in the summer.

Everton will hope Grealish’s time on Merseyside does not end a similar way.
