Jeff Driskel > Kyle Trask?
September 3rd, 2025
Joe needed a couple of days to process this before posting.
The Raiders recently signed veteran quarterback Jeff Driskel to their practice squad. The former Gators quarterback was a sixth-round pick of the 49ers in 2016, and he’s joining his ninth NFL team. He has a 1-11 record as an NFL starter and has appeared in 25 games.
This is somewhat mind-blowing considering recently cut Bucs backup QB Kyle Trask is unemployed.
Tom Brady, Trask’s former Bucs teammate, calls a lot of shots now as a Raiders owner and Raiders general manager John Spytek was part of the Bucs front office team that drafted Trask. Both guys spent years around Trask and have a pipeline to Trask intel, yet it appears neither was interested in the 2021 second-round draft pick.
Man, it’s just stunning that 32-year-old Driskel has a job and Trask doesn’t.
Is it possible Trask doesn’t want to continue his career?
