Julio Enciso's agent fires parting shot at Brighton after sealing Strasbourg transfer

'La Joya' joined Albion from Club Libertad in 2022, and although he showed flashes of brilliance, consistency was an issue for the 21-year-old.

After spending the second half of last season on loan at Ipswich Town and failing to break into Fabian Hurzeler's plans this term, the Paraguay international sealed a transfer deadline day (September 1) move to Strasbourg on a four-year deal.

Now, his agent, Pedro Aldave, has spoken about the transfer offers that came the youngster's way this summer, along with a small dig at the city of Brighton itself.

He told Rock&Pop Paraguay, via Sport Witness, "It got complicated at one point, there were back and forths, luckily, Julio can now show his football. He wanted a change of scenery.

"Julio wanted to stay in Europe. Palmeiras made an enquiry, of course, they’ll tempt you. Gustavo Gómez was kind to him. But he wanted to stay in Europe.

"Strasbourg is a football city, much more so than Brighton. He was always going to go to Strasbourg for a year. I think playing 35 matches between now and the World Cup will be the best thing for him."

Aldave's remarks perhaps provide a clue as to why Enciso hasn't been particularly effusive about Albion following his Amex exit.

In addition to an Instagram highlight reel of his Albion spell, where he briefly thanked the Sussex side, the forward wrote he is ready to "write new pages" in his football career.

In the end, Albion sold him for around £10m, and Strasbourg have a player with a lot of potential. He will hope to hit the ground running at the Ligue 1 outfit, while also setting his sights on helping Paraguay qualify for the 2026 World Cup.
