Arsenal’s 15-year-old sensation sets new record after England U19 debut

Arsenal youngster Max Dowman debuted for the England U19s in their 2-0 victory over Ukraine in a friendly game at the Pinatar Arena in Spain on Wednesday morning, setting another record in the process.

Dowman had been a part of England U17s, for whom he featured at the U17 European Championship, but has now been given a double promotion.

He came on as a substitute for Jeremy Monga in the 70th minute. According to Arsenal youth expert Jeorge Bird via Transfermarkt, he is now the youngest player to feature for England U19s at 15, eight months and three days old.

Manchester City youngster Divine Mukasa gave England the lead in the first half before Chelsea’s Shumaira Mheuka sealed the victory just after the hour mark.

Dowman will hope to get more minutes when Will Antwi’s side face Spain on Saturday and against the Netherlands in their final fixture in this international window.

The Hale end product has also enjoyed a meteoric rise at the club level, making his senior competitive debut against Leeds United and becoming Arsenal’s second youngest debutant. He won a penalty, which was converted by striker Viktor Gyokeres in the fixture.

The English youngster made his second appearance in the defeat at Liverpool on Sunday and is expected to get more game time with Mikel Arteta’s side as the season progresses.

Likewise, Arsenal’s young goalkeeper Jack Porter also featured for Antwi’s side for the first time against Ukraine. He had previously featured with the U17s alongside Dowman.

Porter has mainly played for the U18s this season, featuring in their first two U18 Premier League games. He made history as the youngest starter in Arsenal’s history in the Carabao Cup third round victory over Bolton last term.
