Real Madrid has seen its fair share of creative players over the years. Obviously, Karim Benzema leads the all-time assist chart, but Real Madrid fans would be hard-pressed to forget other creative maestros such as Mesut Ozil, Angel Di Maria and Kaka.
Heck, the current head coach, Xabi Alonso, was a pretty good creator himself back in his playing days.
To generate assists, players must put themselves in positions of actively creating chances. In the Xabi Alonso era, which requires 100% buy-in from all player types, this will only be emphasized more.
So far this season, one Real Madrid player is putting himself forward more than anyone else in creating chances.
Arda Guler is making Real Madrid proud this season
According to La Liga's official account, Arda Guler has created more chances than any other player across Europe's other leagues. So far this season, the Turkey international has created an impressive 11 chances. He's also bagged himself a goal in the process.

Arda Guler is an incredible player. He has all the potential in the world to become a world-class playmaker, but we wouldn't hold him to this standard just yet.
It is known by Real Madrid and Turkey fans across the world that Arda Guler has something special. He showed shades of brilliance under Carlo Ancelotti, but he was never given a real chance to prove himself.
Under Xabi Alonso, though, Guler has started all three Liga games so far. He was taken off around the 70-minute mark in the two most recent games, but played out all of the first match. So, it's clear that Alonso plans to use Guler more often than Ancelotti did, which is great news.
Of course, Arda Guler isn't the complete package just yet. While he might be incredible in the final third, as shown by his eagerness to create chances for his teammates, Guler does need to work on his defensive acumen. This will come with time and age, surely.
Nevertheless, we should always give players their flowers when they deserve them, especially in their formative years. Guler has had a superb start to the season, and in this new creative role, he'll only continue to shine.
