Chicago Bears Connected to Big Trade to Help Caleb Williams

The Chicago Bears have definitely pulled out all the stops to try and make life as easy as possible for quarterback Caleb Williams this offseason, adding even more weapons and bolstering their offensive line.

The latter is particularly important considering that Williams was sacked 68 times last year, so the Bears obviously want to make sure the former No. 1 pick is protected.

However, Chicago clearly has an issue at left tackle. Yes, Braxton Jones won the job, but the Bears don't seem entirely comfortable with him, which is why Bleacher Report's Kristopher Knox has connected Chicago to a trade with an established veteran at the position: Cam Robinson.

"ESPN's DJ Bien-Amie reported on August 26 that Robinson was 'the subject of trade talks,'" Knox wrote. "Obviously, no deal has materialized yet, but that could change at any time. Any team seeking a starter at left tackle should be interested, as the 29-year-old has 101 starts on his resume."

Knox added that Robinson - whom the Houston Texans signed in free agency - probably has a fifth-round value right now, and with the Texans really liking rookie tackle Aireontae Ersery, they may pull the trigger on a trade.

Robinson isn't exactly an All-Pro, but he started all 17 games last season and posted a very solid 70.4 pass-blocking grade at Pro Football Focus.

Realistically speaking, the University of Alabama product is probably a better option than Jones or anything else the Bears can currently trot out at left tackle, so Chicago definitely makes sense as a possible destination for him.

The Bears added numerous offensive linemen this offseason, swinging trades for Joe Thuney and Jonah Jackson while signing Drew Dalman in free agency. They also selected Ozzy Trapilo in the NFL Draft.

Is it possible that Chicago could complete another trade to improve the trenches before the start of the regular season?
