Gary Lineker believes Jack Grealish is helping to bring out the best in Kiernan Dewsbury-Hall at Everton.
The two players arrived at Hill Dickinson Stadium this summer as part of a bumper transfer window for the Blues. Both have made an instant impact with their early-season performances.
Grealish has a remarkable four assists from his two Premier League starts, including one for Dewsbury-Hall in the 3-2 win at Wolverhampton Wanderers last weekend. Dewsbury-Hall scored one goal and set up another in what was a sparkling attacking display.
While Grealish is only at Everton on loan from Manchester City — with an option to make the deal permanent for £50 million — Dewsbury-Hall was a permanent acquisition from Chelsea for a fee of around £35 million.
Speaking on The Rest Is Football podcast, Lineker was effusive in his praise of the 26-year-old: “He’s a very talented player and he’s got a great work ethic on the pitch.
“I’m not surprised he’s done well; he seems to have a bit of harmony with Jack Grealish. They could be a good partnership down that left-hand side.”
Dewsbury-Hall was initially at Leicester City before moving to Chelsea. However, after finding minutes hard to come by at Stamford Bridge, he left the club after just one season.
Lineker, a Leicester supporter, referenced Dewsbury-Hall’s links to the Foxes by singing “he’s one of our own”.
“Well, he was until we had to sell him because of PSR to Chelsea,” he continued.
“Where he didn’t really get a look-in at all, understandably because their squad is incredible, but he’s a very talented player and he has got a great work ethic on the pitch, so I am not surprised he has done well.”
