Mohamed Salah has hit out at a popular Liverpool social media account for attacking Luis Diaz and Darwin Nunez.
In a controversial social media post, X profile @AnfieldEdition - that has over 500,000 followers, claimed Alexander Isak and Florian Wirtz for Diaz and Nunez is “the best upgrade in football history”. This provoked a fierce response from Salah, who defended his former teammates.
“How about we celebrate the great signings without disrespecting the PL champions?” Salah fired back. High-profile figures like Jamie Carragher showed support for Salah in the replies.
Newcastle United and Liverpool ‘beef’
Newcastle United fans on social media have been bantering with Liverpool all summer. From the Hugo Ekitike saga to Alexander Isak downing tools, it has been a turbulent war of words between Tyneside and Merseyside.
The hostilities came to a head last month when the two clubs met for a thrilling encounter at St James’ Park. Liverpool edged out a 10-man Toon outfit deep into stoppage time before unloading a British transfer record - for the second time this year - to sign Isak.
Mo Salah honest on Liverpool adjustment
Speaking to the Men In Blazers podcast, Salah admitted it will take time to get used to Liverpool's new frontline. He said: “So far I haven't figured the connections out yet. Like with Darwin or Lucho or the guys they used to play in front, or Diogo. I knew where to start with Diogo or Darwin. I know where to find them. I knew their game very well but with Hugo he's still new.
“Sometimes I need the ball in the field. Sometimes we need it in space. We try to figure that out, through the training sessions or like the videos. The manager shows us. I will figure it out soon because it's going to help my game to grow as well.”
