“I could’ve played for Arsenal”–Player thinks Havertz injury would’ve seen minutes, doesn’t regret Gunners exit

Monaco striker Mika Biereth believes that he could have played for Arsenal and taken advantage of Kai Havertz’s injuries to do so.

[Tipsbladet](https://www.tipsbladet.dk/nyhed/generelle/tog-united-stjerne-til-danmark-vi-er-gode-venner) cover comments from the striker today in which he insists that he doesn’t regret leaving Arsenal permanently in January.

The striker had joined the Gunners U23 side after starring for Fulham’s youth set up but spent most of his time at the Emirates out on loan, first at RKC Waalwijk, Motherwell and then Sturm Graz.

He went on to impress at the Austrian side and they paid big to sign him last summer, joining them a €9m deal in July last year.

His permanent stay would be a short-term one, though, as Monaco came calling in the January transfer window and paid €13m to sign him to bolster their forward line.

He’s been a big hit at the Ligue 1 club, scoring 13 goals and registering three assists in 22 games so far and at one point was the hottest striker in Europe’s top leagues as he scored 12 goals in his first 10 games in the French top flight.

That led to some questions being asked back at Arsenal, particularly as they continued without a striker before this summer’s big move for Viktor Gyokeres. Biereth certainly believes that he could have played for Arsenal, especially when Havertz was ruled out last season.

_“I didn’t follow it that much, but I know that Kai Havertz was injured, and if I had still been there, I could have played for Arsenal,”_ he said.

_“But that’s not how it works properly, and I’m very happy to be in Monaco and score some goals there. For me, the Premier League is not the most important thing._

_“As I said, I’ve lived in London, so if I come back to a Premier League club in London, it would be a lot of fun for my family, but for me it’s not like I just have to play in the Premier League. It’s also great to play for top clubs in Europe.”_
